Lithium Ion Capacitor

Introduction

In response to concerns over the future supply of fossil fuel and a growing awareness of the environment in our society, lithium ion capacitors have been developed as innovative next-generation electricity storage devices that feature a large energy storage capacity and high-speed charge/discharge. Lithium ion capacitors dramatically improve energy utilization efficiency and offer a unique, high power density at the same time. Currently, lithium ion capacitors offer value to a wide range of applications, including transportation, electrical power supply, solar- and wind-power generation, industrial machines, and office equipment. The market demand for lithium ion capacitors is expected to grow extensively in the near future.

Global Support Structure

The world’s first plant for commercial-scale production of lithium ion capacitors was inaugurated by JM Energy on November 10, 2008 in Yamanashi, Japan. In the meantime, commercial production of the ULTIMO Lithium Ion Capacitor has taken off.

In Europe, the ULTIMO series Lithium Ion Capacitor are marketed and fully supported by JSR Micro N.V., located in Leuven, Belgium. JSR Micro N.V. is a subsidiary of JSR Corporation, with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan and a sister company of JM Energy.
