Sustainability reports

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) has always been of great importance to JSR. This is also reflected in our corporate mission, being Materials Innovation. We create value through materials to enrich society, people and the environment.

JSR acknowledges the huge challenges ahead. Climate change and environmental degradation are an existential threat to the world. To overcome these challenges, the EU developed and delivered the European Green Deal. Several pieces of sustainability legislation (e.g. Taxonomy Regulation, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive,...) will have an impact on the chemical industry inside and even outside the EU.
JSR is member of the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC). The SCC is focused on the challenges of climate change and works to speed industry value chain efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in member company operations and in other sectors of the semiconductor manufacturing value chain.

Since 2010 the JSR Group yearly publishes its Sustainability report.

Since 2015 we report our local ESG achievements. We are proud to present you our fifth Sustainability report.

Product Stewardship

REACH and CLP

JSR Micro NV as a chemical company is fully aware of its obligations under REACH, the European Union regulation for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006). REACH is adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals.
Under the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation, a substance must be self-classified when it has no harmonised classification. For a substance that already has a harmonised classification (an entry in Annex VI to CLP), the harmonised hazard classification is legally binding for the hazard classes and differentiations covered in the entry. The hazard classes and differentiations not covered in the entry must be evaluated and self-classified, as appropriate. JSR takes it responsibility in self-classifying substances and will not await a legally binding harmonised classification.
JSR Micro NV safety data sheets (SDSs) are in line with the Regulation 2020/878 and will be updated continuously in order to remain compliant with the REACH and CLP Regulation.
Sustainability and green product development are very important for JSR. Therefore, JSR Micro NV is not including substances of very high concern (SVHCs) in new products and is trying to find alternatives for SVHCs in existing products. Hence, products placed on the market by JSR Micro NV do not contain ingredients that are present on the Authorisation List (REACH Annex XIV).

Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR)

The BPR sets rules for the use of mixtures treated with, or intentionally incorporating, one or more biocidal products. According to the regulation, mixtures can only be treated with biocidal products containing active substances approved in the EU.

Dual Use Regulation

Dual use items mean items, including software and technology, which can be used for both civil and military purposes. A performant Internal Compliance Program (ICP) is in place to facilitate compliance with the provisions and objectives of the Dual Use Regulation and with the terms and conditions of the authorisations implemented under this Regulation, including, inter alia, due diligence measures assessing risks related to the export of the items to end-users and end-uses.
